How geographic condition could influenced culture

How could the geographic condition of Bogor influencing its culture?

Bogor is surrounded by many mountain , just like Salak volcanoes and Gede Volcanoes. Because of that, Bogor become a cool climate city with winding road structure in some region. That thing could influenced some Local Culture Aspects, like, the shape of traditional houses, kind of traditional culture which consists of many things such as traditional food, dance, clothes (batik), and traditional transportation

Influence in Traditional Food
Bogor, which surrounded by many mountain, of course had such cool-climate. That climate also affect the kind of our traditional food. For example, when rain come along, people usually drink something warm. So, Bogor had found the hot and warm drink called ‘Bandrek’. Bandrek is a warm beverage which had ginger as its main ingredient.

The sprouts didn’t actually fried. The sprouts is boiled, then it’s mixed with fried tasty seasoning.

Agriculture
With its cool climate, Bogor has good soil and produce some agriculture product. Bogor also famous for its taro (bogor's talas) and its peanut.

Traditional clothes
Bogor had high frequent of rain, and Bogor even dedicated as the second high-ranked city who had many thuderlights and rain. Because of that, some of batik designers made unique batik with special design. The most related batik with Bogor geographic condition is a 'Hujan Gerimis' batik. 'Hujan Gerimis' means light rain in English, and that design probably inspired by high rain frequent in Bogor.

Of course, Bogor has its icon too. Our main icon is the Bogor traditional weapon called ‘Kujang’. Kujang had main function as traditional farming equipment, and it means that Kujang can’t be separated from Bogor society, because based on its geographic condition, Bogor had huge agriculture potention, and many of the society earn a living by being in agriculture sector, so Kujang is not just another weapon for them.

Education
The one and only public university in Bogor is just Institut Pertanian Bogor (Bogor Agricultural University) usually called as ‘IPB’. Although nowadays IPB had so many faculties, yet this university still concentrating at the Agriculture matters, and it’s main faculty still the agriculture one. This probably occur because of Bogor huge agriculture potention, which supported by good humidity level, sun light level, and rain level.

Public Transportation
Most of Bogor region had hilly pathway, and it’s also affected the vehicle used in Bogor. People in the past used to use becak (pedicab), delman (horse), and bemo as their vehicle. But, as the time passed and technology developed, modern vehicles found, and people nowadays prefer some of modern public transportation, just like Angkot, Bus, Train other than the traditional one, because of many factors like, how much does it cost, how fast does it move, and the effectiveness. The traditional public transportation usually costs more than the modern one. So, now delman and becak commonly used by tourist and several persons, Bogor's Angkot has more domination for transportation in Bogor.

Traditional Ritual
There's so many traditional ritual held in Bogor. One of the most famous traditional ritual in Bogor is Upacara Seren Taun. That ritual held to praise the Lord of all the Agriculture product produced this year, and hoping for the best agricultural product for the next year. This annual ritual held by society not just because of their culture, it's also because the good agricultural system in Bogor that made their sector become successful.

Tourism Object
Bogor is very suitable place for tourist, because it sourrounded by two mountains and had lots of tourism object. Bogor also had beautiful nature view and many unique tourism object, just like Bogor Botanical Garden and Istana Bogor (Bogor Palace).
